Treatment Process
As having gout longer, paroxysm comes up more frequently and the duration of suffering is getting longer.
1. Taking medicine(western) only when paroxysm appears
2. I received medical treatment at a designated hospital(western) as having gout longer. Since that time, I've been injected anti-phlogistic, which made me not to be able to feel off pain without the aid of injection.
3. I was told that there could be several predominant reasons that can cause gout, and hereditary problem and weakened kidney operation by that my uncle had some troubles could possibly apply to me. However I found I had no disease-causing factors related with those things.
4. My doctor's final option of medical treatment was letting me take two kinds of pill of urin-acid restrainer along with another medicine that is normally used as the last resort.
5. I hesitated to accept doctor's direction because I was a little afraid of eventually having urin-acid restrainers more and more as the tolerance of that medicine increases once taking it. And for the time being, I couldn't make up my mind if I would accept taking medicine and meanwhile I turned my eyes to treatment of oriental medicine.

Let me introduce myself before I start this.
I'm a male from Pucheon, and I'm 34 years old.
I have been in pain for about 10 years since I got a disease called gout.
People around me have been telling me much of gout so that I got to know many things about it, and now I can even take care of myself regarding the matters of urin-acid level lowering, painkillers and antiphlogistics without doctor's guidance.
Maybe the reason why I had to resign to unbearable pain followed by having avoided taking medicine was that I might have vague distrust on western medicine. The fear that the medicine might deprive me of ability to protect myself has afflicted me.
It is said that gout can be cured completely with an aid of Oriental medicine. I want to know more details about it and if it is real, I wonder how I can get an opportunity to take that treatment.

-Story about my treatment for gout(¥°)

My name is Kwang-jin Jo and I've been taking treatment over a month in this institution.
I would be happy if I can share my experience, information and knowledge about gout with those who have been in pain just like me, so that this can be a little help for them.
This story deals with what happened when I was undergoing oriental medical treatment. (it's been over 40 days)
The treatment process was so tough and monotonous that I wanted to give the whole things up many times but I thought I had to stand it and managed to endure once again to beat this disease. Unless chief doctor gave me a firm belief of complete recovery and encouragement along with warm comfort, I would have given everything up already.
Basically, I don't have any intention to harm this medical institute and you may delete this writing if you find anything that is not appropriate.

Taking treatment with oriental medicine in this institute started on Mar. 8th 2001. When I first visited this homepage and asked about my condition, I was replied that I was able to recover, and I was really happy to hear that. It was just like that I met my first love whom I'd sought for a long time. And then I finally made up my mind to start taking this oriental treatment without any hesitation.
I had been feeling gradual pain before and after taking medical treatment, but a week after its starting, it seemed that the pain was so severe and went out of my reach already.
I still could not get away from pain even taking over a month treatment. But since I had to endure extreme pain without any aid of painkiller, I could not but stay up countless, long and sleepless nights.
It was unbearable situation for me to fight against disease giving up my occupation even though I wanted to run in it so badly. Moreover I felt like I was nothing because I couldn't even move my toes whenever paroxysm came. These all things drove me only to think about clear recover all the times.

-Another pain after taking oriental medicine
The pain without painkillers was far worse and lasted longer. Together with existent pain, I get to feel pain from other part of my body and moreover I could experience inexistent pain that I'd never had before.
Even worse, I could not get asleep so many times because of the great pain in every vein, to say nothing of already existent joint pain.
After all, about 15 days out of 40 days(treatment period) I had to sit up those all nights.
I often talked to chief doctor on the phone because I thought my body condition was getting worse, but he gave me strong conviction for recovery every time I talked to him and he explained to me why my pain was so intense and why the treatment had to need longer period.
Chief doctor assured that I was going to be better in about 1 month.

I'm sorry about writing this too late. That is why I just got to know the result of my urin-acid blood test that was performed a week ago.
Already two months have passed since I decided to take medical treatment in this institution. But I'm sorry that I can't give you clear and more detailed explanation about gout and the result of my treatment.
At first time, I felt a little bit strange to have higher urin-acid test result than that I had expected before taking this treatment. I have taken urin-acid test at a designated hospital at regular intervals, which showed following results.
Urin-acid level fluctuated between 6.7 and 10.1, rather low in early of the years and rather high in summer. Once, it hit 10.1 in late autumn, which was quite dangerous since it indicates between 3 and 5 at normal condition.
I felt so embarrassed because I thought I was getting better even to see myself be able to move a little, moreover there was no bitter pain after this oriental medical treatment, but this problem was explained like below.
It is said that by gathering up deposited urin-acid in joint the rate can be indicated rather higher than before especially while you're taking treatment.
Now I'm going to tell you all about how better I got so far.
First, I can get to walk with great satisfaction (I could not even move before), but the pain in my left knee and ankle especially when I'm walking seems not to getting worse but to recover so slowly that I can't even recognize if I'm recovering or not.
I'm taking 4 steps of oriental medicine prescribed in this institute at home. First 2 were medicine for gout but no improvement could be seen with those after all.
With that reason, now I'm taking 2 more types of oriental medicine to make my body fundamentally stronger so that it can absorb everything that can help me recover sooner.
Actually, at this time I can't tell you exactly about what you want to know because the treatment is not over yet.
But I will take time and try not to hurry with my treatment and I will also follow all the direction from this institution with faithful belief.

Struggling against gout (¥²)
Hello,
It's been almost 3 months since I started fighting against gout with the aids of this institution.
Although I thought so many times I wanted to give everything up and go back to western medicine due to unbearable pain, I could manage to beat all the enticement only with one strong will that I'll recover thoroughly.
No matter how long it will take, there is only one goal for me.
That is perfect recovery and completion of treatment. While I'm being under treatment, I'll give myself to doctors and follow all the directions that they make.
Now, let me tell you about my urin-acid test analysis firstly.
The result of April test showed 10.5, which was the highest one among that results that I had had, and next one indicated 9.4, which was rather lower than former one but still high and dangerous. Urin-acid level is getting lower but it's still high so that it is regarded a little bit early to make any conclusion or evaluation of treatment only with it.
Even though I still have swollen ankle and minor fever, generally I can feel I'm getting better.
And I'm good to walk around even though it's still unnatural for me to do. So I spend a lot of my time to walk and work out making my muscle solider that has weakened since I was ill.
Even if recovery procedure is not so fast as I told you, I don't think I am getting worse anymore and I'm sure that I'm definitely getting better soon.
As mentioned before, I've been taking 4 steps of oriental medicine.
First 2 were for gout itself, and last 2 were for helping my body to accept medicine smoothly. 2 days ago, I was served 5th medicine that is for gout again and I'm sure that urin-acid level should go down eventually with that medicine.
Another blood test will be performed in 15 days, and I'll write about my ongoing condition on that result.

Congratulations on your grand opening of your homepage firstly, and I'm sorry about writing this late again.
I've been taking medical treatment for almost 4 months in this institution. Still I have consistent attitude and purpose as I started with.
First of all, let me tell you about my body condition.
I managed to go back to my job and now I can do my job very energetically and actively.
In appearance, I'm quite good enough to walk naturally and I can even run. But in fact, urin-acid tested early in this month indicated 8.8 and next one mid in this month indicated 9.3, which was performed in this institution.
It is thought, from a very objective point of view, that I can't say whether I'm clearly recovered because it is believed that the most obvious and objective criterion for determining recovery is urin-acid level, which is not yet satisfactory. Still undergoing medical treatment and struggling against gout so that I'm going to follow all the directions from doctors while I'm taking oriental medicine and I'm going to do later on until the end of this treatment.
Although I can still find my ankle swollen and in fever, I feel like I'm getting better as I wrote before. Taking the test of urin-acid in blood in every 15 days, I promise that my next writing shall be up around early in July.

Hoping that you take care of yourself in this hot season, I'm sorry for writing this late again.
To begin with, I'm telling you about my ongoing body condition.
I'm good with my occupation and I'm back on my track as before.
Actually, I'm worried about if the problems regarding urin-acid that was mentioned before can be harmful to this institution and that's one of the reason why I hesitated a little to write my story again.
In my former writing, first test result was 8.8, second was 9.3(this was tested in this institution), third one was from late last month was 10.9 and the last one was tested on 9th this month was 11.9.
Those results have been so unexpected and annoyed me a lot because I thought myself to be recovered and there was no discomfort to move around regardless of the results.
And I believe that others may experience similar situation regarding urin-acid just like me and they're probably worried about it, too.

Regarding urin-acid test, we are concerned about it as much as you are. It is not very easy to lower urin-acid level once it was deviated from normally permitted limit. But at this point we think we have to touch the reason why your urin-acid in blood goes up too much high.
It is thought that at least Mr. Jo's urin-acid in blood was controlled in some degrees by having taken medicine and well planned diet program.
However it was not the case regarding urin-acid that was crystallized in joint. We served you with a treatment for melting it down, which consequently excruciated him so badly during that treatment. And the urin-acid that came from joint permeated into blood to raise urin-acid level in blood. This is what we didn't recognize at first time. Presently, you are under the treatment that can help to push remnant urin-acid out of body through passing urine.
However our oriental medicine is to improve spleen and kidney function eventually so as to help urin-acid discharged naturally and gradually, so that it will take some amount of time to send urin-acid level back to normal condition dissimilarly as western medicine such as Xironic put down urin-acid level in blood mechanically without considering any fundamental body function.
In this stage, more stronger belief and perseverance is needed to draw a favorable result.

Struggling against gout (¥µ)

I wish you are always healthy in any condition. First of all, I'll tell you about urin acid value. The result measured on 12th July was 9.4 was and 10.1 when I measured today at Hyunduk Oriental Medicine Clinic. It's a little lower than before ( the highest 11.9 ), however, it's still far from the normal condition.
And I used to feel stiff and discomfort continuously, I hardly suffer that pain nowadays. Although I sometimes feel this symptom, I think I got tolerance for the changes, and the pain which was used to last one or two days disappears in a short time. This time I'm taking 7th medicine. My prescription drugs were weaker that original formula because of dyspepsia and vomiting. But the function is recovered to as certain degree, so the doctor said he prescribed my medicine a little stronger than before. And he also added that urin acid value would be lowered.
I appreciate kind encouragement call from you who suffer from the same disease and I wish I would be a help to you.
I'll report the result after 15 days and I thank the doctor's endless challenge.

2001.7.11. was the first day I took the herb medicine. First three days I took two packs of medicine a day. The pain came slowly on the both sides of big toe joints. And it seemed the pain also came to the right side of ankle. I could hardly more from the third day. I can't explain the gout sufferer's moan and pain. I worry how I can work from tomorrow. Because it seems there's no possibility to cure my disease. I regret my excessive eating and drinking habit¡¦
I was troubled with nightmares all the night. Anyway, I began to have 4 packs a day, according to the advice of the director of Hyunduk clinic. Still, I can't walk well. As there is saying, 'it takes a widow to know a widow's difficulties', only a gout patient can understand a gout patient's pain. I terribly feel fear and discomfort because urin acid stone breaks like a tumor on the joint of ankle. While tooth paste-like substance runs down continuously and it doesn't seem to be easily cured like the general injury. When I dress a bandage to the ankle at the hospital, the surgeons advised me to undergo a surgical operation and said to me, "It will become osteomyelitis unless it's treated well¡¦", giving anti-biotic injection on my hip.
I take oriental medicine continuously made by this clinic, nevertheless the severe pain. I've had diarrhea since a few days, but I don't feel good. Whenever I get up, I hope I feel better, but my condition is the same as it was yesterday¡¦
Ironically, car sales take a favorable turn since I got sick. It is ridiculous to see myself to visit my clients despite pain.
I called Doctor Seoh because I simply cannot put up with it.

Struggle with Gout

I'm 30-year old man of strong physique and called Kim Sung Uk.
From my childhood, I was a wrestler. When I was at the height of my powers, my weight is over 140 Kg. I had to quit wrestling when I was sophomore at university, for I got injured.
140 Kg might be too heavy for ordinary people to live, not as an athlete. So I decided to lose some weight and reduced about 30 Kg.
Meanwhile, it began to feel pain from the big toe, ankle, elbow and so on. At first, I didn't have regard for the pain because it didn't occur frequently. While I took only analgesics, a small lump of fat grew on my elbow.
The doctor diagnosed my case as gout ... so I entered the hospital and got internal treatment for three weeks. But the result was only 10 kg loss in weight. Because the pain was remained unchanged and there was no progress in my health, I got out of the hospital. At the time, I endured my disease with only analgesic.
I happened to know the pharmacy which specialized in the gout-medicine. I took that pharmacy's medicine for three years, and infected analgesic(steroid) whenever I could endure the pain. Meanwhile, I saw this clinic through cable TV.
The next day, I got a medical examination carefully at Hyunduk Oriental Medicine Clinic. I was diagnosed as So-eum type. I started to have gout treated for So-eum type. But, after only three days I took treatment, the pain became so severe that I couldn't help taking pharmacy's gout-medicine, which relieved my pain. I made up my mind to quit the pharmacy's medicine, when the medicine ran out. I relapsed into the pain after one week. It was no match for former pain. Even I couldn't move my fingers.
It was struggle with the gout.
I began to have 8 packs of oriental medicine a day and sometimes 12 packs a day. Ironically, I ate nothing during I had oriental medicine, I didn't feel hungry and I went to stool every two days regularly.
I began to suffer from insomnia. About for one month, I didn't sleep more than 10 minutes. Not only I, all of my family had trouble because of my disease. My wife, who was in the sixth month of pregnancy, spent a hard time especially.

It's been 10 years since the first time that I suffered from gout.
Now I'm taking oriental medicine of Hyunduk clinic for the third time.
Though you disbelieve in complete recovery, I hope my story be of help for you.
10 years of suffering from gout also made me distrust in recovery. I went to Han-yang University general hospital (surely, this is the best hospital of gout), Chung-buk University general hospital, several special hospitals for gout, small clinics, and famous oriental medicine clinics.
But I never heard any doctors of those hospitals say that they can cure my gout.
I felt I could do anything for recover from the disease.
There was an attack in May 2001.
I had another three attacks in this same year.

I heard the first stage of recovery is eliminating urin acid from joints, the second stage is diminishing urin acid in blood. And the last is keeping normal circulation between pancreas and kidney.
I think the first and stage is coming together, but I'm not sure the last stage is happening at the same time or if urin acid is diminished, I'm through all the stages.

After this long suffering, there must be changes in life style.
For example, if I went to bars three times a week, I should be content with once a week. If I enjoyed pork appetizers, I should change it to salads or soup.

I am 47 year old male and I've been in pain for over 15 years.

Gout maybe the most crucial disease affecting other internal organic system such as kidney and reoccur very easily causing excess pain unless you don't put enough effort to fundamentally destroy all of it in its early stage. In it's early stage, pain disappears entirely a few days after paroxysm but reoccurrence is to be repeated and eventually that term between each paroxysm gets shorter and shorter, generally.
You must take good care of gout in the early stage to get away from gout. This is what is highly recommended by me as a predecessor who has long-enough experience.
